Operating instructions for battery combustion testing machine

The purpose of battery combustion testing machine:
The battery combustion jet testing machine is suitable for the flame resistance test of lithium batteries (or battery packs). Drill a circular hole with a diameter of 102mm on an experimental platform, place a steel wire mesh on the hole, place the tested battery on the steel wire mesh sieve, install an octagonal steel wire mesh around the sample, then ignite the burner to heat the sample until the battery explodes or burns out, and time the combustion process.

Operation steps

Preparation: Ensure that the battery combustion testing machine is placed in a ventilated, dry, dust-free, odorless, and strong light free environment, and kept away from flammable and explosive materials. At the same time, check if the testing machine is grounded and connect the power supply properly.

Connecting the gas source: When testing this machine for the first time, it is necessary to connect the connecting pipe between the gas source and the control box.

Place the sample: Place the battery to be tested on the combustion screen in the center hole of the table, ensuring accurate positioning of the battery, and cover it with a metal mesh.

Set up multi-layer gauze: Place the multi-layer gauze vertically in front of the control box, ensuring that the horizontal measurement distance between the gauze and the center of the screen is 0.91 meters.

Turn on the gas switch: Wait for a few minutes for the gas to enter the throat of the burner.

Ignition and timing: Press the “ignition” button to ignite the burner, and the “combustion timer” will automatically start timing. Observe the combustion state of the battery until the sample explodes or lithium burns.

End the experiment: Press the “Stop Combustion” button, and the combustion timer will stop.

Follow up operation: Turn on the main switch of the air source, wait for the smoke to dissipate, turn off the main switch of the air source, observe the condition of the battery in the test cabinet, confirm safety, remove the battery, and observe the condition of the mesh cover.

matters needing attention

Safety protection: During the experiment, operators should always wear protective goggles, gloves, and regular protective clothing to prevent dust and gas generated during the experiment from causing harm to the human body.

Environmental requirements: Ensure that the testing environment meets the equipment requirements, avoids direct sunlight, and maintains air circulation.

Power requirements: The testing machine should be grounded and connected to the power supply according to the instructions in the operating manual. Do not use sockets that are not intended for design purposes.

Cleaning and maintenance: When cleaning the testing machine, a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner should be used to avoid the use of corrosive substances. Regularly carry out daily maintenance work on the equipment to ensure its normal operation.

Operation training: Before conducting experiments, operators should carefully read the operation manual and receive relevant training and guidance to ensure proficiency in the operation methods and precautions of the testing machine.
